'Egremont Russet' is a good quality, mid-season apple. It's the most important commercial russet apple in supermarkets. The flesh is cream, tinged yellow, sweet and firm with a distinctive rich, nutty flavour. It's skin is greenish-yellow, then golden flushed orange-red with large pale lenticels.

M116: Semi-dwarf. This is a modern semi-vigorous apple rootstock known as a strong replacement for MM106, offering similar high yields but in a slightly smaller tree, around 10% less vigorous, with excellent resistance to collar rot (Phytophthora), mildew, and woolly apple aphid, making it great for replant sites and heavier soils, though it's harder to propagate via cuttings. Bred from MM106 x M27 at East Malling, it provides good productivity, precocity, and adaptability, requiring staking when young.

Cultural: Plant in deeply worked, free-draining soil. Gently and evenly spread roots in hole before covering. Firm well then water in. Unless necessary, do not water again until tree is in full leaf, and do not add fertiliser at time of planting unless recommeded.
