Hovenia dulcis, the Japanese raisin tree or oriental raisin tree, is a hardy tree found in Asia, from Eastern China and Korea to the Himalayas, growing preferably in a sunny position on moist sandy or loamy soils. A great plant for bees. The edible part is the swollen inflorescences. The small fruits can be discarded. Keep the edible parts on a cool dry place to mature the flavor.

Height after 5 years is 5m without pruning. Keep the plant tidy by snapping off dried/dead stems, which appear throughout it's growing season.
