Prunus salicina 'Duff's Early Jewel' (Japanese Plum)

Duff's Early Jewel  is a popular early-season Japanese hybrid plum variety grown across New Zealand. Fruits are medium to large dark red skin with sweet, juicy yellow flesh. Semi-freestone. Ripens early, typically around December. Ideal for fresh eating straight off the tree, as well as for making plum sauces and preserving. Considered self-fertile, though planting it with a companion such as Santa Rosa or Red Doris can increase crop sizes. It also acts as a great pollinator for other Japanese plums, including Black Doris. H 4-5m x W 3-4m
