Originated in southern Brazil. Also known as Strawberry or Cattley Guavas after William Cattley, an English horticulturist who encouraged its cultivation in England in the early 1800s. Small tree with white powder-puff like flowers. The red fruit about 2.5cm round, are sweet and tangy. The skin is deep red when ripe. The flesh is aromatic, juicy with small edible seeds.
