Syringa vulgaris 'Souvenor de Louis Spaeth' (French Lilac)

Syringa vulgaris 'Souvenir de Louis Spaeth' is a variety of French Lilac grown for its showy and perfumed flowers. Purple buds open through late spring and summer to reveal clusters of the single, dark pink blooms which are stunning. The foliage comprises dark green, heart-shaped leaves which develop yellow tones in autumn before falling. Commonly included in mixed planting, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, included in cottage gardens, or grown as a flowering hedge. After the flowering, prune the withered flowers without removing the buds. Water regularly and abundantly the first year. Deciduous. H 2.5-4m x 2-3m.
