Vitex agnus-castus (Chaste Tree)

Vitex agnus-castus (also called Vitex, Chaste Tree / Chastetree, Chasteberry, Abraham's Balm, Lilac Chastetree, or Monk's Pepper) is a plant native to the Mediterranean region. It is one of the few temperate-zone species of Vitex, which is on the whole a genus of tropical and subtropical flowering plants. Vitex is a cross-pollinating plant, but its self-pollination has been recorded.

Deciduous shrub grown for their beautifully aromatic grey-green foliage. The bush is covered in colourful spikes of lavender blue fragrant flowers through the summer and autumn. Will grow in sun or semi-shade. Prune after flowering to maintain its shape. Hardy. Prefers well drained soil and a warm site. H 2-5m x W 2-4m
