Dieffenbachia seguine (syn. Dieffenbachia maculata), widely known as Dumbcane, Leopard Lily or Tuftroot, is a species native to the neotropical Americas, from extreme southern Mexico and Belize and much of Central America, as well as the northern half of South America (it is typically absent in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay). It is found on many Caribbean islands and territories, including Cuba, Grand Bahama, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Hispaniola, Îles des Saintes, Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, Saba, Saint Kitts and Trinidad and Tobago. It is also found on the Galápagos islands of Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal, where it was likely introduced by humans.
This variety have broad, pale green leaves with dark green edges. Prefer bright indirect light but will cope in lower light situations, evenly moist soil and a free draining mix.
NOTE: All parts of this plant are highly toxic to people and pets. The plant sap can also cause skin irritation on contact.
