Ficus carica 'Robyn' (Fig)

A highly ornamental tree that has the added bonus of providing delicious fruit twice throughout the year in January and April. The fruit is purple-black with a succulent red flesh. Plant in a sunny well drained position with protection from harsh frost. Medium- to large-sized fruit with pale green to yellow skin. Pulp is pink to cream with a mild flavour. Prolific bearer, fruit ripening Feb to March. This is a variety that comes from Eric Cairns at Upper Hutt and is a good fig for marginal Wellington/Manawatu climates.
