Gladiolus murielae (Peacock Orchid)

Gladiolus murielae (syn. Acidanthera bicolor) is a species of flowering plant in the family Iridaceae, native to eastern Africa, from Ethiopia to Malawi. It has been given a number of English names, including Abyssinian gladiolus and fragrant gladiolus. It was formerly placed in the genus Acidanthera.

These wonderfully fragrant summer-blooming bulbs have nodding, snow white flowers on slender stems. The upright plants stand 2-3' tall and have grassy foliage. This is an easy to grow in containers, perennial gardens and cutting gardens. Plant the bulbs in spring for flowers in late summer.
