Hovenia dulcis, the Japanese raisin tree or oriental raisin tree, is a hardy tree found in Asia, from Eastern China and Korea to the Himalayas, growing preferably in a sunny position on moist sandy or loamy soils. A great plant for bees. The edible part is the swollen inflorescences. The small fruits can be discarded. Keep the edible parts on a cool dry place to mature the flavor.

Plants available from 22 February 2023. Please email us to reserve a plant due to limited stock. Plants flower within 3-4 years, if planted in the ground and well fed. Height after 5 years is 5m without pruning. Keep the plant tidy by snapping off dried/dead stems, which appear throughout it's growing season.
