Iochroma fuchsioides

Iochroma fuchsioides is a species found in Ecuador and Colombia. It was first described in 1848. An amazing plant on all accounts, the Red Iochroma provides a blistering color display throughout the growing year. The 5cm long, trumpet-like flowers cluster throughout the bushy foliage turning this beauty a fiery red. It is a much sought after and uncommon garden ornamental.

In addition to the known withanolide D, three new withanolides have been isolated from this species.
