Leucadendron laureolum 'Golden Tulip' (Peninsula Conebush)

An eye-catching shrub with a single stem that branches from the base with dark green oval-shaped leaves with red tips. Yellow flowers with red centres occur during spring. The red fruit cones are egg-shaped and contain flat seed. This species is classified as threatened in the wild. Leucadendrons are dioecious, separate male and female plants. Both the male and female flowers occur in dense heads at the branch tips with the male flowers the most attractive, only the female flower will produce cones and seed. Prefers well-drained soil in a sunny position. Drought and frost tolerant when established.
