Magnolia denudata (Lily Tree)

Magnolia denudata, the Lilytree or Yulan Magnolia, is native to central and eastern China. It has been cultivated in Chinese temple gardens since 600 AD. Its flowers were regarded as a symbol of purity in the Tang Dynasty and it was planted in the grounds of the Emperor's palace. This is a small rounded tree covered in creamy white flowers in Spring. Culture: Magnolias are true aristocrats among
flowering shrubs and trees. Choose site carefully as they do not like disturbance once planted. Rich, moist, free-draining and slightly acid soil will give best results. Water deeply and freely until established.
