Metrosideros kermadecensis 'Red and Gold' (Kermadec Pōhutukawa)

Metrosideros kermadecensis, with common names Kermadec pōhutukawa and New Zealand Christmas bush is an evergreen tree of the myrtle family which is endemic to the volcanic Kermadec Islands about 900km north-east of New Zealand.

This selection is a beautiful shrubby tree with dark green, variegated foliage consisting of the colours gold, red and white. Also has distinctive red stems and produces scarlet flowers consisting mainly of stamens. Requires free-draining soil, full sun or partial shade and tolerates coastal conditions. Grows to about 3.5m x 2.5m.
