This selection has a vigorous erect growth habit producing masses of terminal burgundy red flower heads in Spring. Random flower production can occur in Autumn. The large dome shaped flowerheads are a ready source of nectar for birds.
Plant in well drained acidic soils in an open sunny position. Once established it becomes a hardy robust small tree. Frost tolerant to -4Β°C. Stake young to avoid wind-rock. It is drought tolerant once established. Prune current years growth after flowering by half to two thirds to enhance flowering the following season.
Makes an excellent specimen plant and is a great addition to any coastal garden. Also useful as a flowering screen plant. Flowers can be used for floral work. H 4m x W 2.5m.
